Discovering Tarot: My Journey into the Mystical World

Welcome back to my blog! Today, I want to share my experience as a teenager discovering tarot and the mystical world. This journey began back in the early 2000s when the internet was still a novelty, and my access to it was limited. I was allowed only 30 minutes per day, as the connection was linked to our landline, preventing any incoming calls. Moreover, every minute online meant mounting costs. Despite these limitations, I seized every opportunity to soak in information, spending countless hours in my local library.

The Library: A Sanctuary

The library was my sanctuary. Amongst the rows of books, I found solace in the heavenly silence and the calming, intriguing scent of books. To this day, I absolutely love the smell of books—especially the old ones! The library wasn’t just a place for reading; it was a refuge from the bullying I faced throughout my school years, from 1st grade through to high school. Tarot and books became my safe haven during these difficult times.

Embracing Tarot

My parents were understandably concerned about how much time I devoted to reading and thinking about tarot and the occult. Their worry wasn’t that I was headed down a wrong path, but that my social life was virtually non-existent. However, tarot provided me with comfort and a sense of belonging when I felt like an outsider.

Initially, I was scared to delve into tarot. The first year of reading the cards filled me with fear, as if something bad might leap from the cards and drag me to another world. Of course, this never happened. As I grew more familiar with the cards, my confidence blossomed, and the fear dissipated.

Understanding Tarot

I soon realized that tarot cards were not as mysterious as I initially thought. They were merely a deck of cards, made from paper, adorned with pictures. The cards themselves held no special powers. Instead, it was all inside of me. Tarot, I learned, was a tool—a means to harness my intuition. Much like knitting needles are to a knitter, the cards were just instruments, and the skill lay in my understanding and interpretation.

In conclusion, my teenage years spent exploring tarot shaped my understanding of the mystical world and myself. It taught me that true power and insight come from within, and that tools like tarot can help guide us on our journey of self-discovery. Thank you for joining me on this nostalgic reflection of my formative years.
